How to Choose the Best Washing Machine

"This is the best washing machine I've ever had."

What is the best washing machine? The answer to that all depends on what you’re looking for. You might be interested in the best rated equipment based on price or reliability. You might even be looking for a commercial washer. Without getting into specific reviews, you can usually figure out which machine is best suited for you.

Starting with the high end, top of the line washers, one of the greatest models money can buy is from Samsung. The WF448AAW (which retails at about $1,500) is a very high end front loading machine that has consistently been praised by those who purchase them. When you consider the fact that performance and price point are not usually directly related, you’ll be surprised here. People who purchase this are particularly happy about the much larger space it offers to cram in as many clothes as possible, as well as how quiet it is. Now, it’s a little soon to see if it will be as reliable as older Maytag and Whirlpool washers, but it’s shaping up like it will be.

For middle of the road pricing models ($1,000-$600), Avanti, Danby, Bosch, Staber, and Roper are usually the most trusted, with Avanti leading the pack. Though none of their models stand out as a clear winner, most people will agree that for what they’re looking for, you can’t lose with Avanti. Not to say that the others are any worse, rather, the other brands are extremely comparable in this class. Basically, if this is your price range, you can decide whether your need a front loader or top loader, and whether you want a mini washer or one for your apartment. Then, you simply have to pick what’s available. You won’t go wrong, and if you have the option between these brands, simply pick the one that’s aesthetically pleasing to you.

The low price range ($500 and below) is commonly given a bad rap. True, you won’t be able to get a shiny red or blue front loading machine that also pays your bills, but you will be able to find a reliable machine that will get the job done, albeit in a slightly less convenient manner. Haier is always recommended to those with a very low budget, as well as a used or discount Maytag or Whirlpool washer because they will literally last forever.
