Finding and Using a Clothes Steamer
"You have to try this clothes steamer. It works!"
The clothes steamer is one of the next waves to hit the laundry market. Most people are sick and tired of lugging out ironing boards every time they need to remove wrinkles, so the steamer comes in very handy. There are a couple different types available from many different manufacturers. Who makes these handy devices? They are available from Conair, Jiffy, Rowenta, Scunci, and Black and Decker. You just have to choose the best one for you and your fabrics needs.
A very popular version is the compact, portable, travel steamer. This handheld device is electric, of course, and can be taken almost anywhere with you. Just hang up your clothes, hold it in your hand, and start making your garments look professional! You simply move it up and down in vertical motions and it releases a powerful heated steam that loosens the fabric and removes the wrinkles. They’re very convenient and usually available for under $100.
If you don’t need to be taking your steamer on the road with you, consider getting the full personal model. This device has a long hose that can be used to get wrinkles out of almost anything in your house made of fabric – including tablecloths, drapes, and sheets. The steam is not extremely hot to reduce the chances that you might cause burn damage. The machine is lightweight and is just about as good as commercial grade devices. They usually run about $200 or less.
Of course, if you’re going to be doing a lot of this, probably because you need wrinkles out every day for work, you might even consider bumping it up to the professional grade. These models are so good at what they do; you can even use them to help install carpet. They come with different hose attachments so you have the right tool for whatever job you’re doing, and wheels on the bottom of the unit to be quickly transported around with you. They usually run just under $300.
